$22,000 will get you a brand-new Honda Civic EX, Hyundai Elantra Limited, or Chevy Cruze 2LT. Sure, you'd be getting something brand-new with a spiffy warranty and probably some sweet dealer incentives, but isn't that just boring?
For that same $22K, you can have yourself a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ! Yeah, she's got some miles on her, but 80K isn't turrible. And look at that leather! That burl walnut! Those innumerable switches, knobs, screens, and gizmos (that will surely never break)!
Of course, the maintenance might put you in the poorhouse, but it will do it with style! Who wants a boring vanilla econobox anyway? For the same money, you could treat yo' self to a full-size German luxury flagship. And isn't that what you deserve?

You just want someone to buy it so you can have luxury sedan drag races.
First one to break a hard to replace suspension part loses!!

Okay, so there's an S class like that near my house sitting in the driveway with el-cheapo FOR SALE signs in the window. I must show Oppo now.

At one point a few years ago I was considering buying a CLK 350 sport. I'm glad I didn't.

Every gearhead needs to own a used V8 luxobarge at some point in his life. Yes it will be expensive to maintain. But you can have some fun and keep the memories for life long after the car is sold.
How are you going to fully appreciate a reliable car if you don't own a money pit at some point? It's like dating - you have to date at least one batshit crazy babe before you get married. That way you'll fully appreciate your sane wife.

Runner-Up: Whoever breaks a very affordable part that's only on special order from a Mercedes dealership.

What did you buy instead? Something awesome, I hope.

LOL
I am one of the least responsible people on here. I'm so stupid I keep piling on more debt and buying more cars that are past the warranty period or will be soon.
And I have a really bad track record when it comes to batshit crazy babes. I'm hoping that I eventually grow out of that and marry someone sane. A German money pit is not as bad as a divorce.

I'll stop tonight and see how much they want. I hope they don't get excited that a guy in a old ass Camry is checking it out.

Actually, nothing. I ended up losing my job, went back for a Masters, and got married.

A Masters and a marriage? I'd call that money well spent.

22k...wow that's a great deal actually. Didn't know the 550s were that low now. They are really great cars. And they have been mostly reliable I believe. I support your decision 1000%.
